The topics to be covered include: an overview of the different options that business owners have to raise capital and /or take liquidity out of the business; preparing a growth oriented business plan for investors; and tightening operational and internal controls and having a strong finance department that can present information to buyers in a form that is meaningful and is compliant with GAAP reporting standards.

This class will highlight two different approaches. The first will include the involvement of a private equity firm and outline how they join forces with your leadership team to purchase the company. The second will focus on employees only and will highlight opportunities to increase the value of the sale through tax-efficient structuring.

This session will discuss the differences between transferring ownership and leadership and control. Transferring ownership is heavily predicated on minimizing the impact of taxation.
